Sandi Durell has been a professional corporate events producer for over 25 yrs. servicing clients on a nationwide basis. Whether it's a themed event creating or re-creating an environment, music including DJs, Karoake, Video DJs, bands, orchestras (all ethnic varieties, ie, steel drum, klezmer, swing);variety entertainment magicians, mimes, caricaturists, fortune tellers, face painters, jugglers, impersonators, costumed dancers, etc.; or producing name talent such as Marvin Hamlisch, Roberta Flack, Ben Vereen, The Commodores, Emily Skinner & Alice Ripley and others, Sandi Durell has the expertise, knowledge and resources that turn any event into one that is refreshingly new and exciting. Sandi is a producer on the award nominated recurring show Timeless Divas ! She is a creator of this series which continues to play around the country in its various formats: Songs of the Silver Screen, Broadway Divas and Dames in Divaland. She is a producing partner in the off-Broadway show Shout¹ now on tour. Sandi is also a producer on the award winning documentary Broadway:The Golden Age¹ (www.broadwaythemovie.com ) with Rick McKay (PBS Emmy Award winner)
As a former chairperson of a non-profit New York Theatre Company, she initiated, developed and successfully produced the company¹s Cabaret and New Songwriter Series, as well as Master Classes all of which were on-going. All provided an arena for both new and established performers to continue to grow. Artists such as Julie Wilson, Lainie Kazan, Donna McKechnie were all a part of these programs.
She Executive Produced the debut CD 'Our Heart Sings' as a fundraising project for the theater company gathering the talent which included: Kristen Chenoweth, Christiane Noll, Phillip Officer, Alice Ripley & Emily Skinner, Mark Nadler Heather MacRae, Alison Fraser, Stephanie Pope Georga Osborne, Paige Price, James Delisco Beeks, Donna Lynne Champlin,and others. Sandi produced the Release Event for 'Our Heart Sings' at the 2nd Stage Theater featuring the various performers on the CD, as well as guest artists Donna McKechnie, Diana Canova, Sal Viviano. She is a Producer of the historic Vint/Age 2001 Conference on Ageism in the Arts and Media working alongside Shari Upbin and featuring guest speaker: Valerie Harper with Moderators: Gretchen Cryer and Pia Lindstrom and panelists including: Tisa Chang, Graciella Danielle, Tovah Feldshuh, Eileen Fulton, Tina Howe, Phyllis Newman, Jane Powell, Frances Sternhagen and entertainers Lainie Kazan and Leslie Gore.
She is Producer of the 2001 Theatre Resources Unlimited Benefit (T.R.U.) honoring Frederic Vogel, Chairman of the Commercial Theater Institute, at the John Houseman Theater in November, 2001 in which she also performed alongside Robert Cuccioli, Eileen Fulton, Mark Nadler, Heather MacRae, Stephanie Pope, Suzanne Ishee, Ken Prymus, Jana Robbins, Mary Stout, KT Sullivan and Jane Summerhays. As a Special Events producer for over 30 years she produced many corporate and fundraising charity benefits before segueing into theater production.
She has had the honor of interviewing one of New York's well known social realist artists Philip Reisman before his death, which interview was subsequently published. Philip Reisman has documented on canvas, the chaos that is New York City, as well as depicting many great cities of the world. He was the only artist ever given a one-man tribute and show at the Museum of the City of New York. His works hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, National Academy of Design, The Hirschhorn Museum to name a few, and are a part of major private collections.
Sandi began singing as a child and has had a career as a vocalist with bands and orchestras throughout the Tri-state area, performing in regional theater as well; has appeared and performed on the Jim Lowe Radio Show alongside other guest artists including Margaret Whiting, Julius LaRosa, Julie Wilson, Julie Budd. She is on the Board of Trustees of Arts Horizons working alongside Chairperson Celeste Holm in bringing Music, Art and other cultural programs to the schools. She is on the Board of Directors of the New York Sheet Music Society which keeps the Great American Songbook alive and for which she produces their New Songwriter Series.
Sandi is a Member of the 100 year old 'Dutch Treat Club' ; a member of the League of Professional Theatre Women. She continues to perform, on an on-going basis and has formed a production company with Shari Upbin, namely ShaRell Productions. (please click on Timeless Divas link)
